Daily Update on Nothing

Hi. Well, another uneventful day to report. Yesterday, we went to the Babies R Us in Milford to pick up some last minute items, thinking that maybe Peanut would motivate from all of the baby-ness around. Well, that didn't work. But that's ok. We bought stuff.

You know what's funny is that I have noticed that the B R Us customer service professionals (that's a joke) are really - um - not so pleasant, and I'm like, dude. If you're working in a BABY STORE, you just might want to try a little harder to smile, especially to the babies and pregnant women who go there a lot. I recognize that I'd be a really bad year-round Christmas store employee, so I don't work at the Christmas Tree Shop. Maybe these people simply lack similar self-awareness.

On a sad note, I want to bid farewell to a much-loved member of our family, my brother's 17 year old dog, Corky. In 1995, Corky accompanied me on a 1200-mile road trip from Omaha to Mick and Sue's new home in South Carolina. She sat up in the passenger seat of my little red car for most of the trip (except for her one minor freak-out in Louisville where she jumped onto my lap and down toward my feet as we crossed the Ohio River in a thunderstorm) and proved to be great company, as she was to Mick and his family for many years. We'll miss you, Cork :(

Maybe August 1

My friend Val informed me that Friday is a new moon, and lots of babies decide to arrive during new or full moons. So let's hope that is the case. That will give me today to run errands with my mother-in-law and then maybe I'll go into labor tomorrow and have the baby on Friday.

If only one could plan for these things! But one cannot.

Taking a Long Walk is supposed to help

One of the nice things about living in New Haven is that it's very walkable, as long as you're able to dodge the idiot drivers, of which there are many. Andrew is fortunate to be able to walk to work in about 15 minutes, and from our apartment to the movie theater is only a half hour, so I should go there today.

Yes, what I really should do is get off of the couch.
And shower.
And get dressed.
Ohh ... the effort ...

This is me trying to talk myself into now leaving my apartment as the midwife mentioned again yesterday that such constitutionals can really help to bring on contractions, labor, etc. Walks, along with a whole host of other things that I won't mention here; unfortunately, the consumption of large quantities of alcohol is not on that list. By the way, if baby stays put this week I'll have an ultrasound on Monday and we'll have to talk about the plan of action ... as much as he apparently likes his current location, he has to come out by the end of next week!

And finally, the photo is of Peggy from Mad Men, one of the other shows (in addition to the Wire and Shear Genius) that I'm mildly addicted to. [Spoiler Alert] At the end of Season 1, she was shocked when she went into labor, as she thought she had just gotten fat! As if. Trust me, when you're 9+ months pregnant there's little else to think about except how pregnant and gross you feel, which is different than feeling fat. I'll give them a pass though because the show is generally quite awesome.

Peanut: still chillin.

Hello ... went to the midwife this morning ... no dilation, no nothing! As she reminded me, that doesn't mean that I couldn't go into labor today! But I still don't think he's coming til August. Thankfully, August is Friday.

Still Waiting

So ... still pregnant. Today is our due date and it has come and gone, but now that this blog is up I'll be able to update you daily in my chipper and upbeat, pregnancy-loving fashion! Why, if I'm in this condition for two to three more weeks that would be just fab!

ps. Don't bother asking me for photos, as the time for fun prego photos has also come and gone.
